Zombies Invincibility

Apparently, somebody has already figured out how to become invincible in Black Ops 2 Zombies mode. By collecting parts to build up the power, you can gain invincibility by building them in a certain way at a specific section of the map. Click here for more Black Ops 2 glitches.

Zombies Trailer

Treyarch have finally released a teaser / trailer for Zombies in Black Ops 2.

The trailer focuses on a bus that is driving through what looks to be a post-apocalyptic earth (Zombie Apocalypse, anyone?) Burnt-out cars are scattered across the landscape and smoke and ash is clogging up the air. The bus itself is badly damaged, with mud (and maybe blood) covering the front of it. As the camera zooms in, the doors open and we can see that all of the glass windows have been broken. A voice then says "Welcome Aboard", before we're shown a date for the official Zombies reveal, which is on the 26th of September.

My guess is that the bus will act as transportation between certain points on the map. What do you guys think?

Unlock Weapon Camos

Today, Treyarch developer David Vonderhaar announced on Twitter that all cosmetics in Black Ops 2 (weapon camo, facepaint etc) will be unlocked via challenges. In the previous game, the player unlocked these items by spending COD points. The tweet in question read:
All cosmetics, including weapon camo, are Challenge based. RT @D2ultimaIs camo tied to pure leveling? Or will it be challenge based.
This will appease a lot of COD diehards, who felt that unlocking items via a currency system was too easy and that it lacked any real challenge.

What do you think? Are you unhappy or happy about the currency system being discontinued in BO2?

Can't Knife Turrets

Today, David Vonderhaar announced on Twitter that players will be unable to knife any of the Turrets found in the upcoming Black Ops 2 multiplayer. In his opinion, the ability to knife turrets made them completely under-powered and undervalued. Speaking on Twitter, David (who is one of the lead developers at Treyarch) had this to say:
You can't knife turrets in Black Ops 2 MP. It was destroying where they were they existed in the power/value band.
If you played the previous game, you'd know that SAM Turrets were sitting ducks because a) they showed up on the map when they fired and b) they were easily destroyed with a one-hit knife. At the moment, the only turret that we know of is the Guardian Turret, which projects microwaves at enemy players and impairs their vision/slows them down.

What do you guys think? Is this a good idea?

COD Points

Well, it's official. The COD currency point system that featured in the previous Treyarch game will not be returning in Black Ops 2. While speaking to NowGamer about the return of wager matches, David Vonderhaar said:
In Black Ops they were called Wager Matches, and there was the ‘gambling’ component. But those somewhat oddball, out-of-context, just kind of fun game modes are actually going to make a fairly significant return in Black Ops 2, as what we call Party Games.
He then went on to state that the currency system would no longer be involved:
Party games is how we think about that – we think about them as you and I just goofing off, having some fun in this arguably slightly silly game mode. We love making those game modes, and they’ll be a part of this game too. They just don’t have the mechanic of gambling in them in that way, because there are no CoD points.
In case you've no idea what COD points actually are: They were a currency system that allowed you to purchase weapons and attachments instead of unlocking them via leveling up. Many players disliked the system because they felt as if took the challenge away from earning weapons etc.

Custom Emblems

In a livestream at Gamescom, Treyarch developer David Vonderhaar confirmed that the emblem editor would be returning in Black Ops 2. The emblem editor allows players to create their own custom emblems using a selection of shapes and letters that they can select, colorize and layer over one another.  While some people are extremely happy about being allowed to express their creativity in-game, others have complained that it will just lead to more pictures of dongs and swastikas. What are your thoughts on custom emblems?

See Players Through Walls

A lot of discussion has been going on about the multiplayer reveal. However, one thing I've noticed is that not many people have picked up on the fact that one guy is able to see through walls and smoke. For example, look at this screenshot of the guy with the PDW 57:

through wall

As you can see, our guy can see the shape of an enemy player THROUGH the metal. It's a ghost-like figure, and he might not be too noticeable, but it IS a major thing for a COD game. Maybe this is one of the perks that will be in Black Ops 2?. It could also be the scope that allows him to see through walls and smoke etc.

Shock Charge

One of the first things that we get to see in the multiplayer reveal trailer is something called the shock charge. Basically, it's a throw-able piece of equipment that can stun / electrocute enemies and temporarily disable them. Here's a screenshot of it being thrown:

Shock Charge Black Ops 2

As you can see, it's a strange looking piece of equipment. When thrown near an enemy, it seems to incapacitate them:

Above is a picture of one player being shocked. You can clearly see the electrical pulse flowing through his body. It seems as if this piece of equipment might be the Black Ops 2 version of a stun grenade!

Multiplayer Reveal Trailer

UPDATE: Here's the actual trailer:

The long-awaited Black Ops 2 Multiplayer Reveal trailer will be officially released tomorrow. Last Friday, the Call of Duty Twitter account announced that the official trailer would be released on Tuesday the 7th of August, much to everyone's excitement. Speaking on Twitter, the official COD account tweeted:
In just 4 days, we reveal #BlackOps2MP. RT if you’re ready to see Multiplayer in action.
While everyone likes seeing single player reveals, the vast majority of Call of Duty fans tend to impatiently await the release of multiplayer details.

Who is Cordis Die?

Today, Treyarch released a new trailer called "Villain" for Black Ops 2:

In the trailer, a US general is taking to the camera:
He's like... a celebrity now. People, in America... idolize him. They'll wake up tomorrow and realize that their hero... has wiped them out! We've used advanced technology to track him... and he's just... disappeared! Where the hell is he? He doesn't need his own weapons. He's got ours.
The interesting thing about this trailer is the fact that it shows a Youtube channel owned by somebody called "Cordis Die". This channel has 55,867,489 subscribers and 678,546,724 total upload views. After searching around on YT, I found a new YT account owned by a user called cordisdie. The channel is completely blank, except for one video:

In it, a man with a foreign accent says:
Come, my friends. It is not too late to seek a newer world.

So, what does it all mean? Who is Cordis Die? Who is the grey-haired man in the trailer that is talking to Frank Woods? What did he mean when he said "It begins?" What is his mission? So many questions...

If you look up the word "CORDIS", you'll find that it stands for Community Research and Development Information Service, which is an interactive online portal that aims to support European research and innovation. Whether or not this has anything to do with it remains to be seen.

As for the story: My guess is that you take control of Mason's son and that this is the character you will be chasing (only to find out he's really the good guy and that your superiors have been misleading you). I'm also guessing that this Cordis Die guy is opposed to way technology has taken over the world / military. It also seems as if the US army / government will be the "bad guy" for most of the story.

Nuketown 2025 bonus map

It looks as if those who preorder Black Ops 2 will be given a bonus map called Nuketown 2025. This is extremely interesting because of a number of reasons:

Firstly, it kind of confirms people's expectations that Black Ops 2's multiplayer will be set in the future. Although we've already been told that the single player would take place in a near-future setting, there has been no real confirmation about whether or not the multiplayer will follow the same time frame. Now that we know there will be a futuristic version of Nuketown, we can safely guess that the Black Ops 2 multiplayer will also be based on the near future.

Secondly; how will people react to this? Being awarded free DLC for pre-ordering is often frowned upon by ardent gamers who feel as if publishers are already making enough money as it is. It's definitively not a subject that is without controversy. Although, it has to be said: it is much better than awarding people extra guns or perks.

Here's a promotional poster for the Nuketown 2025 bonus map:

When will the multiplayer reveal be released?

Let's face it: Most Call of Duty fans only care about the multiplayer side of things. While I say that I like hearing news about the upcoming single player, there's always that voice in the back of my head that says "Shut up and tell me about the goddamn multiplayer!"

Fortunately, it looks as if a reveal trailer is set for mid-August, which is earlier than last year's reveal, which took place in September.

This is according to Treyarch's David Vonderhaar, who told everyone on Twitter that information about Black Ops 2's multiplayer will be released in 7 or 8 weeks.

Adjustable FOV in Multiplayer

Twitter user pcdev, who just so happens to be the Director of Technology at Treyarch, announced today that there will be adjustable FOV in Black Ops 2's multiplayer.

Speaking on Twitter, pcdev said:

What will be the top level prestige on Black Ops 2?

In Black Ops 2, it looks as if you will have to work your way through 55 levels before you can hit the prestige button. This is opposed to the previous Call of Duty game (MW3), where you had to reach level 80 before you could get into the next prestige. Note that this information was gleaned from the multiplayer demo at E3, so it could be changed before release (although I doubt it).

There's still no information regarding how many prestiges will be in Black Ops 2. Usually, you'd bet your money on 10, but who knows; Treyarch could follow Infinity Ward's lead and add in an extra 5. My best guess would be 10.

Set in the future

It looks as if the pre-order page for Black Ops 2 on the official Call of Duty website went live by mistake and a few people managed to grab a screenshot of the page in question. On the page, a description of the game said that Black Ops 2 will actually be set in the near future. Here's a screenshot of the page (which has been blocked since):

description of game

It says:
Pushing the boundaries of what fans have come to expect from the record-setting entertainment franchise, Call of Duty®: Black Ops 2 propels players into a near future, 21st Century Cold War, where technology and weapons have converged to create a new generation of warfare. Pre-order today.

This would explain futuristic killstreaks such as the Quadrotor and the Avenger.

Box Art

Looks like we have a clearer view of what the box art for Black Ops 2 will look like. As you can see, here's a promo for the PS3 version of the game.

Here is what the XBox version will look like:

Finally, we have the PC box art:

When is Blacks Ops 2 released?

All evidence points towards Black Ops 2 being released on the 13th of November 2012. For example, here's a leaked header for an online pre-order:

Box Art

See the date? Also, the leaked reservation cards show the 13th of November 2012. In case you didn't already know, the 13th of November is a Tuesday. This is usually the day that Call of Duty games tend to be released.

Leaked screenshots

Apparently, screenshots of the upcoming Black Ops 2 game were leaked by a special effects company. The reason these screenshots are believed to be official is because the Quadrotor appears in them. In case you didn't already know, the Quadrotor appeared as a teaser image on the official Call of Duty website.

Firstly, here is a piece of leaked art. Note that this isn't a screenshot. This is simply a piece of art that would normally be used in promotional posters etc. Notice the Quadrotor in the background.

Black Ops 2 art

Finally, here are the actual leaked screenshots:

Black Ops 2 screenshot quadrotor

If this is a fake, it's pretty well done. This looks to be a screenshot of the Quadrotor. If the teasers on the official COD site is anything to go by, this will be a killsteak.

Screenshot Black Ops

The picture above shows the Quadrotor from below.

leaked screenshot of killstreaks

This is the most exciting screenshot of them all. As you can see, there are three killstreaks and a player character underneath. You can see the Quadrotor, an attack chopper and what looks like an Osprey Gunner. The cars also look to be the same kind of cars that we've seen in previous COD games.

The future is not as far off as most people think - We're not ready for it

The Call of Duty website released another teaser today. Basically, it was an image that said:
The future is not as far off as most people think - we're not ready for it.
This reinforces what many people have already been thinking. That Black Ops 2 will be set in the near future. Why? Because two of the possible killstreaks (the Quadrotor and the Avenger) are both prototype drones that are set to be used in future combat. Some people have also speculated that the game could involve time travel, although I personally doubt that.

Is the plane in the new teaser image the Avenger?

Yesterday, the Call of Duty website released another blurry teaser image. This time around, it looks to be some sort of plane. While others have guessed that it is a Spy Plane or a Blackbird, Reddit user millionsofplankton believes that it is in fact, the Predator C (now known as the General Atomics Avenger). This seems plausible as it would fall into line with Treyarch's choice of the Quadrotor. Reason being: Both the Quadrotor and the Predator C are pieces of technology that are currently being tested. i.e. both will be used in the near future. Here is a picture of the teaser image showing the Predator C:

Avenger Black Ops

And here is an actual picture of the Predator C / General Atomics Avenger in real life:

Black Ops 2 avenger

As you can see, the shape of both planes match up perfectly. The Avenger / Predator C is an unmanned combat drone. This begs the question, will it be a killstreak?

Reservation cards leaked

Looks like Xbox / PS3 reservation cards for Black Ops 2 have been leaked:

Reservation cards

For those of you that can't see the image properly, the cards state that the game will be released on the 13th of November of this year. It also says that you get a free $5 dollar gift card if your purchase a preservation card for Black Ops 2.

The enemy could be anywhere and it could be anyone

The Call of Duty website released its latest teaser image today:

Black Ops 2 The enemy could be anywhere teaser

As you can see, it says: "The enemy could be anywhere and it could be anyone". At first, I was left scratching my head. Pretty cryptic stuff, to say the least. However, if you take it for granted that the weapon list and perk list "leak" last week was actually authentic, then the "Spy Perk" would certainly explain away this teaser image.

According to the "leak", Spy does the following:

Spy allows you to appear on the enemy's mini-map as a friend. i.e. You'll show up as a green team mate on the mini-map.

Tacitus Black Ops

The official Call of Duty website released another teaser image today. This time, it a blurred/fuzzy picture of the word "Tacitus" (Tactitus for those of you that landed on this site via a typo!).

What's interesting about this name is that during the video about the Quadrotor, which will be a killstreak in Black Ops 2, FPS Russia was wearing a T-shirt with the name Tacitus on it.

FPS Russia wearing Tacitus T-shirt

The question, what has this name got to do with the next Call of Duty game? What does it all mean? Who or what is Tacitus? After a little bit of research, I found out that Tacitus was the name of a famous senator/historian that lived in the Roman Empire. It is also the name of a crater on the moon map for Black Ops zombies!

Quadrotor to appear in Black Ops 2 as a killstreak?

Below is an official teaser image from the Call of Duty website. Apparently, a new teaser image will be released every few days.

quadrotor black ops 2

As you can see, the picture isn't exactly clear enough to make out what it is. HOWEVER, the smaller thumbnails for each teaser image do flash between a fuzzy/darkened version and a more-detailed/brighter version while they are all listed together. Fortunately, somebody was able to grab a quick screenshot of the picture while it was flashing, which means that we get to see a clearer (although much smaller) version of the image.

See that? Doesn't it look remarkably like the Quadrotor (which was conveniently covered by FPS Russia today). Here's a picture of FPS Russia with the Quadrotor:

FPS Russia

In case you didn't know, the Quadrotor is a controllable drone that can fire an SMG. At the end of his video, FPS Russia tells us that he's been told it will feature in Black Ops 2. Judging by the pictures above, he's right. My guess is that it will be a controllable killstreak!

Word Reveal posted on Facebook

world reveal black ops 2

This was posted on the official Call of Duty Facebook page. Looks like the next Call of Duty game will be revealed on the 1st of May (this year). That means that in seven days time, we'll probably get to see the teaser trailer for Black Ops 2.

Notice how the image seems to follow the same type of design as the poster that was leaked last weak.

Larger version of poster

Here's a larger picture of the promotional poster for Black Ops 2, which says "return for debriefing". The date is the 2nd of May 2012. Everyone reckons that this will be the official announcement/date the official trailer for Black Ops 2 is announced. Black Ops 2 large promotional poster

Official poster leaked?

It seems as if retailers such as Gamestop have been receiving promotional goods for the upcoming Black Ops 2 game. The latest "leak" is a promotional poster for the game, which has the date: 2nd of May 2012 written on it. My guess is that this is the date that the official Black Ops 2 trailer will be released. The Treyarch and Activision logos are both visible at the bottom of the poster.

Black Ops 2 logo leaked?

Apparently, somebody has leaked the Black Ops 2 logo? Not sure if it's completely legitimate or not, but it does look official. After this logo was posted on the COD forums, it was immediately removed by Activision. If I've learned anything in the past, it's that you should pay extra attention to the leaks that Activision try to clean up.

Here is the Black Ops 2 logo in question:

What do you think? Does it look legit? By the way, if you're wondering about the date below the logo; apparently, that's the date when the Black Ops 2 teaser video will be released.

Leaked multiplayer information

Apparently, some information about the Black Ops 2 multiplayer has been leaked. This "leak" and the multiplayer info it (supposedly) contained has been posted on thousands of blogs and gaming forum boards around the Internet. Be sure to take it all with a pinch of salt.

A new game mode called Escort will be added to Black Ops 2. My guess is that this is similar to the VIP game mode that failed to make it into the final version of MW2. In this game mode, players must protect one of their own players from the enemy team. If the name is anything to go by; it's safe to assume that you and your team mates might have to "Escort" one of your players to a specific point on the map. Enemy players will (obviously) be trying to stop you.

According to the leak, Escort will be similar to Search and Destroy in the sense that there are multiple rounds and you only have one life per round.

Kill Confirmed in Black Ops 2

Kill Confirmed made it's first appearance in MW3. According to the leak, it will be returning in Black Ops 2. This wouldn't really come as a surprise to be honest, seeing as how popular Kill Confirmed turned out to be.

Drop Zone in Black Ops 2

Apparently, Drop Zone will also be returning. Drop Zone is a community game mode on MW3 where specific points on the map must be held by a team while choppers drop multiple care packages. Chaotic is one word to describe it!

Infection in Black Ops 2?

Unfortunately, the leak said that Infection would not be returning. In MW3, Infection/Infected is a game mode where infected players have to kill the regular players with knives and throwing knives. Once a regular player is killed, he or she also becomes infected. The game continues until the timer runs out or nobody is left as a regular player. The leak also said that Team Defender would not be returning in Black Ops 2.

Pointstreaks will be in Black Ops 2. This means that capping flags and doing other objectives will add points to your killstreak. In the past, only kills added to your killstreak (obviously).

This time, there will be an even larger emphasis on objectives. For example, capping a neutral flag will add one point to your killstreak whereas capping an enemy flag will add TWO points to your killstreak.

Specialist in Black Ops 2

Apparently, the Specialist strike package will be returning in Black Ops 2. This allows you to earn perks instead of regular killstreaks. However, the version in Black Ops 2 will be slightly modified from MW3's version. After 2 kills, you will be given 1 perk. After 4 kills, you will be given 2 extra perks. After 6 kills, you'll get 3 more perks. After 8 kills, you'll get 4 more perks. You DO NOT get every perk in the game like you do in MW3. Apparently, Treyarch consider this to be unbalanced.

The RC XD (remote control car) will not be returning as a killstreak in Black Ops 2. In the previous game, it was a 3 killstreak (2 if you used Hardline). This was particularly annoying in Ground War lobbies.

Heat Vision in Black Ops 2

Apparently, a new featured called "Heat Vision" will be added to the game. It will be a poinstreak/killstreak. After earning this killstreak, your player will take out a scope and add it to his or her weapon. This heat vision will then allow you to see through walls whenever you're aiming down your sights. My guess is that this will be countered by some sort of variation of the Ghost perk. This heat vision scope can only be attached to primary weapons (but not Shotguns).

Item Packages

You've already heard of Care Packages. Well now; they'll be introducing "Item Packages". These Item Packages will give you things like ammo, mini gun, grenade launcher, rocket launcher and body armour. The Item Package will drop alongside care packages and air drop traps / decoy care packages.

How many prestiges will there be in Black Ops 2

According to the leak, Black Ops 2 will have 15 prestige levels. There will be at least 50 ranks per prestige level. After every two prestiges, an extra 5 ranks are added. For example, on prestige 1, there are 50 ranks, whereas on prestige 3, there are 55 ranks that you must level up through.

MOAB in Black Ops 2

Unfortunately, the leak says that the MOAB will NOT be returning in Black Ops 2. In case you didn't know, MOAB stands for Mother Of All Bombs and it's an unselectable killstreak that can be earned by getting 24 gun kills (without dying). The MOAB, after it's called in - will kill everyone on the enemy team.

The Nuke will also not be in Black Ops 2

Last Stand removed

Last Stand / Second Chance has been removed from the game. These perks gave the player the chance to get back up from what would have been death.

Flame Thrower

The Flame Thrower will not be returning to Black Ops 2, apparently.

Death Streaks

Death Streaks will also not be returning. Death Streaks are earned after a player has been killed a number of times in a row. They are intended to help bad players / novice players a chance to break a streak of deaths.

Map Design

Apparently, maps will be the same size/design they were in the previous Blops.

Sniper Rifles

Sniper Rifles in Black Ops 2 will not be given aim assist. However, the sway that existed in previous games is now gone.

One perk will no longer define what your player looks like. Instead, your appearance will be based on a number of perks. The type of killstreaks you're using will also define what your character looks like in-game.

Hardcore Mode

More attention will be given to the Hardcore game modes this time around. No grenade launchers will be allowed in hardcore. Only vehicle guided launchers (Javelin, Stinger) will be allowed. The respawn timing delay will be decreased a bit. 1 bullet in the foot will no longer kill a player. Instead, a 1 shot kill will have to be dealt to the head or chest. If a player is severly injured, they will bleed out.

Perk System

Apparently, the perks in Black Ops 2 will work differently than before. Before you have the regular variant of a perk and a pro variant. The pro variant had to be earned via a number of challenges. However, this time around, there will be two possible pro versions of each perk and you'll be given an option of which one you want to use. Both versions will require different challenges to unlock them.

In Tier One, a perk called Speed exists. This acts like Quickdraw / Sleight of Hand Pro and allows you to aim down your sights much faster. Pro Version One allows you to swap weapons faster, whereas Pro Version Two allows you to use equipment faster (stun grenades etc).

Combat Training

Combat Training will be returning. This time around, the Bots will have an advanced AI system that is more similar to the enemies found in MW3 survival mode. Difficulty will not be based on how fast it takes the bots to aim at you.

Black Ops 2 to be released 12th of November?

FNAC, which is an online Spanish retailer, has stated that Black Ops 2 will be released on the 12th of November 2012 (this year). This isn't much of a surprise to anyone; as Call of Duty games do tend to be released on the 11th of November. However, the 11th of November falls on a Sunday this year, which means that they'll be forced to launch on a different date. This makes the 12th of November a realistic date for the launch of Treyarch's Black Ops 2.

Treyarch developer leaks information about Black Ops 2

One of the Treyarch developers working on the next Call of Duty game has mistakenly leaked information about it's title. Hugo Beyer, who has worked on a number of big gaming titles in the past, publicly listed his current project as Black Ops 2 on his LinkedIn profile. In case you didn't already know, LinkedIn is a popular online business network for professionals.

This has consolidated rumors that Treyarch's next game will be a sequel to their previous Call of Duty game: Black Ops.

A screenshot of Beyer's LinkedIn profile can be seen below:

Amazon outs Black Ops 2

More evidence to suggest that Black Ops 2 will be Treyarch's next Call of Duty game has been uncovered. According to Gamefrog.fr, the french version of Amazon inadvertently leaked details about the upcoming release, which is due to hit shop shelves in November of this year (2012).

According to the popular french gaming website, a product detail page went live on the website, which showed a number of basic details about the game. In case you didn't already know, Amazon sell games online, so it wouldn't be a surprise to find out that they've already added the next Call of Duty release to their database.

After Gamefrog reported the leaked details, Activision demanded that they take the story down. When they refused, they were blacklisted and their invitation to see a preview of the next Transformer's game (also published by Activision) was immediately cancelled.

If this is true; Activision have made a huge mistake. If were smart about it, they could of simply blamed Amazon for the gaff. Instead, it seems as if they've decided to threaten the gaming websites that have been reporting the leak, which means that they've opened the following question: "If Black Ops 2 isn't the next Call of Duty game, then why do Activision care?"

Activision buy domain name for Black Ops 2

Activision have successfully purchased the domain name BlackOps2.com, which has fueled rumors that Treyarch are currently developing Black Ops 2. Treyarch's previous addition to the Call of Duty series broke entertainment release records all around the world, so I don't think it would be a surprise if we found out that they will be continuing to build on those sturdy foundations.

As it turns out, it hasn't been an easy task for Activision to get their hands on this particular domain name. Previously, the publishing company had purchased BlackOps3.com, BlackOps4.com, BlackOps5.com, and even BlackOps6.com. However, the domain name for number 2 had already been snapped up by somebody else, which begs the question; did Activision have to pay that somebody a chunk of money or did they get the suits out and threaten them with threats of legal action?

Either way, Activision's latest acquisition has certainly made Black Ops 2 a plausible reality, especially since the first game in the series sold over 14 million copies.
